DAX Index - German Market Performance Index

What is the DAX Index?

DAX Performance Index

The DAX Index is a stock market index comprising the 40 biggest companies (by market capitalization) listed in the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It is a blue chip stock market index that represents the performance of the largest and most liquid German companies.

The DAX index was launched on July 1, 1988, with a base value of 1,000 points. The index is calculated using a modified market capitalization weighting system, with the largest companies having a greater weighting in the index.

The DAX index is widely followed by investors around the world as a barometer of the German economy. It is also used as a benchmark for investment funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
